The Qualities of the Chakras
Each chakra has many qualities associated with it — colors, sounds, gemstones, astrological signs, even architectural forms — but the qualities of the chakras are the most important for us to tune into in our day-to-day spiritual lives.
These qualities are often referred to as positive and negative, but they are not necessarily good or bad. It’s better to think of them as beneficial or harmful, or as ways to help us move forward or ways which might hold us back.
For example, the first chakra (the earth element) offers the gift of stability, which is especially beneficial in the form of loyalty. However, it can get too solid or “stuck in its ways” to the point that it is unable or unwilling to change or tolerate change at all. This, of course, can be harmful to one’s spiritual progress, and one needs the more flowing, flexible qualities of the second chakra (the water element) to balance it.
As we shared earlier, each chakra can be purified, which allows their energy to rise in the spine. They can also become “clogged,” which causes the energy to flow downward and outward into the world.
As you work with the qualities of the chakras, remember how important it is not to focus only on one chakra, but to treat them as the interconnected and holistic system that they are.
