Myth #4: I Don’t Need a Guru
Learning from and being in tune with a true Guru or qualified spiritual teacher is essential.
A teacher can guide you in creating an ideal inner environment in which the chakras can be purified and healed. They can instruct you in the most important tools for purifying the chakras as well as the techniques of meditation such as Kriya Yoga and listening to the inner sounds of each chakra.
The can also help you to shift attitudes. Letting go of harmful mindsets and cultivating helpful ones in each chakra is almost equal to deep meditation as a tool for clearing the chakras.
In addition to the most important ways of working with the chakras, here are a few more very efficient ways to achieve enlightenment and final liberation: chanting, repeating AUM at the chakras with specific musical tones, listening to uplifting music, positive affirmations, visualizations, the Energization Exercises of Paramhansa Yogananda, and yoga postures. Many of these are explored in greater depth in the online course, Know Your Chakras.
There are other ways to work with the chakras, using colors, astrology, gemstones, and so on, but they are of secondary importance. To emphasize: the two most effective ways to purify the chakras are practicing the techniques of yoga and meditation, and shifting one’s attitudes from harmful to beneficial.
